| We get email everyday from people who ask "Am I too old to be an actor?" You can be an actor at any age. Just turn on the television or watch a movie. Is everyone in the movie under 20 or 30 years old? In most films and productions there are mothers, fathers and grandparents. The fact is that all ages and types are needed and if you want to become an actor, then you can. Most likely you will not be able to make it a fulltime profession but you should be able to do fairly well if you have the "look" and if you can act. Additionally, if your acting skills are not so great, there are always projects for extras "atmosphere". Take a careful look at your television programs or your favorite films. There are a multitude of people in the background of all ages and types. If you desire to try your hand of getting on the big screen, decide on what level you want to reach and then go for it. Are you just interested in being an extra or do you want to play characters and be a bit player? You can take acting classes, get involved in local theater productions and indie films to get your feet wet and gain experience while building a resume. Major films have casting calls for extras all the time. What would a film be without the types needed throughout the project of all types to add the touch of realism or slice of life? If you want to want to make acting a profession, be advised that as with any profession it takes hard work, training, dedication and lots of knowledge. Study your craft, read books, take classes, expand or learn new talents. Just as you would if you were preparing or training for a real job. Acing is performed by all ages, and you are never too old to start although the longer you wait the chances are slimmer as with any new career. But it is not impossible by any means. You can't succeed if you do not try.
